Fiscal Sponsorship
what is fiscal sponsorship?
Community organizations which do not meet minimum qualifications to become a qualified vendor of the City & County of San Francisco must partner with a fiscal sponsor, which has met these requirements and can provide the administrative and technical infrastructure to manage the grant. The CCG partners with several local non-profit organizations to provide this service and enlarge the scope of organizations that can seek funding for community projects.
how do i find a fiscal sponsor?
Please contact Lanita Henriquez for more information in being matched with an approved fiscal sponsor.
what is the cost of fiscal sponsorship?
Most fiscal sponsors apply a 10% fee to the total project budget, which support the organization's technical support and administrative management of the grant, including the preparation of reimbursements and compliance with City and program vendor requirements and financial policies. When applying for funding, the CCG recommends the fiscal sponsorship fee be included as a line item to ensure adequate funds are requested to complete the proposed project.
Selection Process
how are grants selected?
The selection process is guided by a Citizen's Advisory Committee (CAC) which review and score applications, and then rank the proposals according to each program's criteria. The CAC makes recommendations for the strongest applications to advance -- based on the pool of available funds for the cycle -- which are then reviewed and approved by the City Administrator.
when will i hear back on my application?
The application review process typically takes 6-8 weeks, after which all applicants will be informed whether or not they have received funding in the current cycle.
if my project/community organization/group did not receive funding, can we reapply?
Absolutely. The CCG and its fiscal sponsors can provided technical assistance to strengthen an application for a future grant cycle.
Applicants which are not funded due to meeting specified minimum qualifications will be notified of these areas of weakness and encouraged to reapply in a subsequent cycle.
